David Montgomery an explosive running back in from the Big 12 was held to a season average low for yards per carry when ISU played TCU in 2017. TCU's defensive held TCU in the game but the lack of offensive execution lead to the TCU loss. I want to show you what TCU did in order to slow down this impressive running back.

The main defensive take away from TCU was their ability to stop ISU’s winged formations and hold Montgomery to a conference low YPR.

TCU moved their alignment based on the TE Wing. Which ever side the TE aligned to they would put their 3 tech and 5 tech to that side. If the TE moved the nose and tackle moved with him as well.

The ends would end up in a 5 tech and a OLB (Sam) takes up the D gap. Mike takes A gap, Will takes B gap.
